RFP 2023-24 Update

• ASCCC OERI Request for Proposals (RFP) V (2023-2024) •

The ASCCC OERI’s RFP V is now available. Applicants should review relevant webinars and ASCCC OERI collections prior to developing a proposal. Please see ASCCC OERI Request for Proposals V – Timeline and Events for the latest information. Successful proposals must fill an unmet need and collaboration across districts will again be required. If you want to learn more, please attend an informational webinar or our office hours (details below).

• Collaboration Requirement •

Collaboration across at least three districts is a required component of all proposals. To meet this collaboration requirement, collaborators must all be anticipated users of the proposed OER from three different California Community College districts. Collaboration is a required element as your product must be designed to serve the state, not a local course, program, or college.

Applicants who want assistance identifying collaborators should complete the Collaborator Recruitment Request form as soon as possible. We will work with submitters to ensure their request is clear and complete. Requests will be sent out via the ASCCC discipline listservs the first week of January. View archived collaborator requests.

Interested in being a part of an OER development team? Be sure to sign up for your discipline’s listserv, if available, to ensure you are aware of any opportunities that arise.

• Equity Requirement •

Given the commitment of the California Community Colleges to equity, including the ASCCC’s focus on Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Anti-racism, and Accessibility (IDEAA) and the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office “Call to Action”, all projects should explicitly incorporate IDEA principles and/or culturally responsive pedagogy. Regardless of your final product, it should be developed with equity in mind.

To support faculty as they implement a culturally responsive and anti-racist pedagogy, the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges Open Educational Resources Initiative (ASCCC OERI), in response to Resolution 09.05 adopted in Spring 2021 (Developing an Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Curriculum Audit Process), has been tasked with the development of:

·         a process and review framework to evaluate existing open educational resources to ensure that ASCCC OERI-supported open educational resources are inclusive, diverse, equitable, and anti-racist (IDEA).

·         a curriculum audit process and review framework to assess instructional materials for equity, inclusiveness, diversity, and anti-racism and make the process and framework available for local consideration, modification, and implementation.

Access the ASCCC OERI IDEA Framework for more information.

• OERI RFP-Related Events •

An “office hour” is an informal discussion and will not be archived. Webinars will be archived. The ASCCC OERI will provide automated captioning for all webinars. If you would like to request live human closed-captioning for any of our offerings, please contact us by e-mail at least 10 business days in advance.
