Faculty can share streaming video with students through Canvas and course shells are available for all classes. At the start of each semester, review your Canvas course shell and confirm that your streaming media links are active. Also check the expiration dates for all licensed streaming video included in your Canvas course.
Most streaming video databases generate embed codes that enable students to watch films through a video player within Canvas.
How do I embed a video?
Films on Demand is fully integrated with Canvas. Use embed codes to enable viewing within a Canvas page. Use the LTI link to enable viewing in a new browser window via an external link.
Embed an entire video
1. Search for videos in Films on Demand within Canvas via the external tools icon. Look for the icon in the top navigation bar. 
2. Click on the Embed button to add your selected video.
3. Add instructions for your students. Include an LTI link that opens a new browser window.
(i.e., "Click on the play button to start the video. If the video does not load in the window below, use this direct link. Be sure to return to Canvas to complete this module when done watching a video.")
Embed a predefined segment
1. Go to Films on Demand and search for a video.
2. Click on the predefined segment.
3. Click on Share below the video player.
4. Click on Embed/Link and copy the Embed Code.
5. Add the Embed Code to your Canvas page using the Upload/Record Media tool. 
Embed a custom segment
1. Go to Films on Demand and log in to your personal account under Your Profile.
2. Click on My Content to view a list of your custom segments.
3. Identify the desired custom segment and choose Share under Actions.
4. Copy the LTI Link.
5. Add the LTI LInk to your Canvas page using the link tool. 
Note: Refer to the Clipping section of this guide to learn how to create custom segments.
Embed a playlist
1. Go to Films on Demand and log in to your personal account under Your Profile.
2. Click on My Content to view a list of your playlists.
3. Identify the desired playlist and choose Share under Actions.
4. Click on Embed/Link and copy the Embed Code.
5. Add the Embed Code to your Canvas page using the Upload/Record Media tool.
Create a playlist
1. Locate the desired video or segment in Films on Demand.
2. Click on Add to+ below the video player.
3. The Add to Playlist option contains the following features and functionality:
Attach a personalized introductory video to your playlist
Make a playlist searchable
1. Click on My Content to view a list of your playlists.
2. Identify the desired playlist and choose Edit under Actions.
3. Click on Settings and check the box Make Playlist Searchable.
4. Hit the Save Changes button.
Note: Embed searchable playlists via the Canvas external tools icon.
Kanopy is not integrated with Canvas but embed codes are provided to enable viewing within a Canvas page.
Embed an entire video
1. Open Kanopy and search for your video.
2. Click the Share button below the video player and select the Embed tab.
3. Copy the embed code that appears in the box.
4. Go to your Canvas page.
5. Click on the Upload/Record Media tool.
6. Click on the Embed tab.
7. Insert the embed code and click Submit.

3C Media Solutions is fully integrated with Canvas. Use embed codes to enable viewing within a Canvas page.
Embed your instructional video
1. Go to 3C Media Solutions
2. Search for your instructional videos in 3C Media Solutions within Canvas via the external tools icon. Look for the icon in the top navigation bar.
3. Click on the Embed button to add your selected video.
4. Add instructions for your students to the page (i.e. "Click on the play button to watch the film.")
Swank is not integrated with Canvas but links are provided. Links to films can be added to a Canvas page and will open in a new browser window where the film will be provided. Swank titles are available to all Citrus College employees and students, however, most of the content supports ART 199 faculty and students.
Add a video link
1. Add a film poster image to your Canvas page.
2. Open Swank and select your video.
3. Click "Share" beneath the Swank video player and copy the Direct Link. Do not use the LMS Link.
4. Highlight the poster image. Select the Links tool in Canvas to add an External Link to the film poster image. Click Save.
5. Add instructions for your students to the page (i.e., "Click on the film poster to watch the film.")
6. The Swank video player will open in a new window.
Hoolpa is not integrated with Canvas but links are provided. Links to films can be added to a Canvas page wand will open in a new browser window where the film will be provided.
Add a video link
1. Add a film poster image to your Canvas page.
2. Open Hoolpa and select your video.
3. Select the URL at the top of the page where the video is listed.
4. Highlight the poster image. Select the Links tool in Canvas to add an External Link to the film poster image. Click Save.
5. Add instructions for your students to the page (i.e., "Click on the film poster to watch the film.")
Students will need to have a Hoopla and public library account to view view the film.
How do I embed a video?
Search for educational documentaries on the NetFlix US YouTube Channel. YouTube is fully integrated with Canvas. Use embed codes to enable viewing within a Canvas page. Use the LTI link to enable viewing in a new browser window via an external link.
Embed an entire video
1. Search for videos in NetFlix US YouTube Channel within Canvas via the external tools icon. Look for the icon in the top navigation bar.
2. Click on the Embed button to add your selected video.
3. Add instructions for your students. Include an LTI link that opens a new browser window.
(i.e., "Click on the play button to start the video. If the video does not load in the window below, use this direct link. Be sure to return to Canvas to complete this module when done watching a video.")
