The U.S Major Dailies database provides access to the leading national newspapers in the United States, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Chicago Tribune.

Step 1: Access U.S. Major Dailies via the library website

• On the Library Homepage, click the Database link beneath the OneSearch search box.

  

• From the “Databases A-Z” list, find U.S. Major Dailies. You can either click on the letter U to narrow the main list or select News from the Database Type drop-down menu.

  

• If you are accessing from off-campus, you will be prompted to enter your Citrus credentials to access the site.

Step 2: Enter relevant search terms to find articles matching this week’s course topic.

• Use course vocabulary for precise results (e.g., “separation of powers,” “right to privacy,” “fairness doctrine”).

• Narrow results by date: select only articles published within the past month

  

• Filter by publication if needed (e.g., select only New York Times).

  

 Step 3: Review your results. Read full articles by clicking the title.

• Save links and citations for your assignment.

  

For daily browsing in the major newspapers:

Step 1: In U.S. Major Dailies, choose “Publications” then select a newspaper.

• For instance, click “New York Times.”

Step 2: By default, a list of the articles of the current issue will show. You can also choose which issue to view.

Step 3: Click on the title of the article to read it.
