Assignment Example

Submit:

  • a typed draft outline of your speech,
  • a typed draft revised outline of your speech,
  • an APA formatted reference list, including at least five references. Integrate at least two different references for each main point, and
  • a plan-of-action letter that you have sent to YOUR California representative, not the person who sponsored the bill.
  • four interviews and an interview essay

Goals:

  • motivate your audience to take action on a proposed public policy bill,
  • state your position (pro/con) on your topic,
  • include a specific plan of action/letter, 
  • focus on basic issues (problem/need, benefit/cost, public good/harm, plan of action),
  • include both sides, but clearly advocate that your position is in the greater public good,
  • incorporate visual aids (See Streaming Media tab)
