Most libraries provide physical materials, electronic resources, and professional guidance for their users.
College and academic libraries like the Hayden Memorial Library offer resources and services to students and faculty, focusing more on scholarly and academic materials and having specialized librarians. Public libraries serve the general public and offer more popular materials and resources. Both types of libraries are accessible and provide free resources for academic, work, or personal use.
This guide will highlight resources available through the LA County Library and Foothill libraries, but we also recommend obtaining library cards from other library systems to expand your access to resources for you and your family.
You will need an account to access most of the materials, resources, and services offered by different libraries. At your college library, access is available with your student ID. At a public library, you will need a library card. LA County Library and Foothill libraries offer digital library accounts and full-access library cards.
