Locating Scholarly Book Sources 
 

  • Circulating books (available for checkout)
  1. Search your topic in the library catalog (One Search box below), and limit by Material type: books or book chapters
    • Look at the publisher information
    • Scholarly books are published by university presses e.g. University of California Press 
  2. Scholarly books include bibliographical references, or are written by historians or scholars. 
    • Search for information about the author if the book does not provide it.
    • Check the back of the book for the bibliography.
